Hatchery Technician
Mikey is from Colonial Beach, Virginia and joined the OSH team in March, 2024. In the past he has worked in food service, sales, as a marine mammal keeper at the Pittsburgh zoo, and at an oyster farm. He received his bachelor's in marine biology & sustainable aquaculture from Unity Environmental University, and his masters in marine science. Mikey became interested in oyster aquaculture after learning about how sustainable it can be as a source of healthy protein and how beneficial oysters are for our local waterways. At home, he's busy raising his 3 year old daughter with his supportive wife, Hannah, and also their wild German shepherd/husky mix named Echo. Mikey enjoys research, reading, SCUBA diving, cooking, and spending time with friends and family.
Fun Facts about Mikey:
Mikey says his favorite part of working near the water is that he gets to occasionally scrape barnacles off of various surfaces.
